Introduction to Community Storytelling and Public Service
Al Neely: Welcome to ListenUp. In this episode, we’re talking about stories that move a city and how storytelling can strengthen communities. I’m joined by Tony B and Councilman Cash Green.
Cash Green: Thank you for having me. Storytelling is important because it humanizes people. When residents understand the stories behind businesses, nonprofits, and policies, trust begins to grow.
Al Neely: That idea of trust comes up often when we talk about local media.
Cash Green: Exactly. Local media should show up consistently. It should reflect lived experience and give people space to explain their work in their own words.
Tony B: When business owners can tell the story behind what they do, it changes how the community supports them.
Cash Green: That’s how stories move a city. They turn transactions into relationships and neighbors into stakeholders.
Al Neely: This episode really shows how media, public service, and community leadership can work together.
Cash Green: When we focus on people over politics, the entire city becomes stronger.
